Individuals interested in becoming a Basic Literacy Tutor are required to take a 12 hour training workshop. The workshop is held on three consecutive Saturdays. The workshop covers issues such as working with an adult learner, dealing with different curriculums, preparing lesson plans, and anticipating and addressing obstacles. You'll also learn about the resources available to you through the Council.

The workshops cover issues such as working with a language learner, dealing with different curriculums, preparing lesson plans, and anticipating and addressing obstacles. You'll also learn about the resources available to you through the Council.

These orientations will give you an overview of the Council's work and our various volunteer opportunities. Council staff, volunteers, and students will be on hand to answer any of your questions.
